Orfeus

Collaborative installation.
Feb 14-16, 2008

The rough industrial architecture of the lab space was transformed through the work of a team project (by students and teachers from CVUT, FAMU, AVU, UJEP and VSUP) into a dim observatory designed for the perception of anomalous, unexpected sonic and light phenomena. Visitors are invited to experience a metaphorical interpretation of the ancient Greek orphic myth of a poet’s journey to the underworld. It is symbolically narrated by a musical composition for multi-channel sound and a pervasive interactive light projection, challenging each visitor to enter a virtual labyrinth built by means of light, dark, sound, silence, movement and stillness. The interactive environment senses the volume, velocity and behavior of people moving inside.
