Alexander Hammid is an author of a famous 1930 short film ‘Aimless Walk’ (Bezúčelná procházka). This silent picture poem captures (seemingly) “aimless” walk of an unknown man through the urban peripheries of pre-war Prague. It is one of the basic works of the Czech avantgard film and furthermore, till present date it represents an up-to-date expression techniques and invites us for interpretation. It is a film where the pattern of the story is repeated and it shows the mythical character of a eternal “Prague passer-by”, the motives of disunity and look-like, improvisation and non-linear proces of perception and inosculation. The Periferie project is a syhtesis of video, film and live music. The authentic film material of Hammid’s film is complemented with new photo and video pictures, while enriched by and combined with ambient sounds and music shapes and forms.

In co-operation with Martin Čihák. Picture collage accompanied by live performance of the percussionist Jindřich Biskup. The majority of the material is of an abstract nature. Black and white fragments were taken from the Martin Čihák film YLO, further colored and covered with finish, then another layer of self-adhesive foil with a pattern imitating the texture of wall-paper was added. These were then printed with the use of color filters. A repeated pattern on the foils similar to the repetition of film frames creates an impression of fluent motion. Plastic transparent foils changing their colors and shapes when lit through by the light of projector create another motive. Another part of the film was computer generated and then printed onto transparent foils, then pasted onto the surface of the filmstrip. The final part captures light change in the view of the backyard from the window, exposed in many layers.

Four diary records. ‘Autumnal Garden’, shot in the garden of the Cimelice castle, based on accelerated light-tonal changes during time recording. In ‘Train ride’ the multiple exposure shot from the window of a moving train also uses the reflection in the train interior. Together with the picture outside the window we can see a reflection of the picture outside the opposite window. ‘Interior’ is a study of light-changes in a simple composition of a room corner, ‘Backyard’ expands the principle of the first part, using various apertures and focusing.

Film of kinetic pictures dealing with Herakleitos’ notes. In the color part of the film the masks are applied frame-by-frame, through which a transparent strip is colored by low-concentrated colors. The black and white part uses similar masks in the place of plastic stencils: the shapes are engraved into the black ground through a thin layer of matte located under the film.
